Toronto boasts several excellent design-build
firms that can help you plan and build a home addition. Growing families often
require more space and amenities than are available in some of the city’s older
houses and bungalows. Older homes have a number of common problems, including:
- Kitchen. Kitchens in older homes are often pokey, cramped and difficult to work in. There is often not enough room for modern appliances or enough counter space for prep. Opening up the kitchen by removing a wall can create a modern space for cooking and dining, which adds practicality and beauty.
- Bathrooms. Most older homes were designed with only one bathroom, and in some, even that was an afterthought! Adding bathrooms can make your family’s morning preparations much more relaxed.
- Wasted space. Some older homes are cut up into small, single-purpose rooms that no longer function well. A redesign of the entire floor can create space that will actually be used.
